Transport Sector Profiles

To provide insight in the transport sector of individual countries in the ATO region, country profiles are being developed. These profiles provide a concise (6-page) summary covering country documents and factsheets, with historical data, baseline projections, mitigation, and policy information vis-à-vis SDGs and the Paris Agreement. As a first step we have now developed 40 country profiles with historical data. In the remaining period of phase 3, we plan to expand these profiles in 2024 with policy information and 2030 projections (where applicable).

Transport State of Play Presentations

The ATO team is developing from time to time country focussed State of Play presentations. These give an overview of the transport sector in the concerned country by presenting historic trends as well as outlooks in some cases for key topics covered by the ATO such as transport infrastructure, activity and services, access and connectivity, road safety, climate change, air pollution and economic impact of the transport sector. Apart from data the State of Play presentations also give an overview of existing policies, relevant targets and policy instruments.

Government representatives, donor agencies or other groups who are interested in a specific Transport Sector State of Play presentation for a country please contact asiantransportoutlook@gmail.com

Road Safety Profiles

The ATO road safety profiles offer insights into the road safety in, initially, 24 Asia-Pacific countries by utilizing road safety related data from various sources and policy information extracted from a range of documents.

The first page presents key indicators on socioeconomic status, road crash fatalities, road infrastructure, and road vehicle motorization. On the second page, for countries where the ATO has already collected policy information on road safety, we display the top five policy documents covering road safety, road safety targets, and other targets indirectly impacting road safety. There is also an analysis of targets based on typology.

The profiles were created in collaboration with the Asia Pacific Road Safety Observatory and they contribute to the Asia-Pacific Regional Road Safety Seminar on December 5-7, 2023.

E-mobility Profiles

The electric mobility country profiles are a product of the collaboration between the Asian Transport Outlook (ATO) and the Urban Electric Mobility Initiative (UEMI). UEMI is the mobility hub of the Urban Living Lab Centre, a UN-Habitat collaborating platform. This effort is supported through the UEMI-coordinated SOLUTIONSplus project which has received funding from the European Union’s Horizon 2020 research and innovation programme.

The electric mobility country profiles provide a brief description of the transport sector, the status of e-mobility and go in more depth on the policy landscape for electric mobility.

In the coming months additional electric mobility profiles will be added.
